One of the greatest blessing in my life is the friends I've made through interfaith connections. Last Monday our Bay Area Spiritual Leaders circle met for a day-long retreat at BBM, and these photos reflect a bit of the warmth and connection we shared. Click here for photos of the event
(Photo: Master Hsuan Hua, Lee Seido DeBarros, Avon Mattison) My late teacher in religion, Master Hsuan Hua, encouraged his monks and nuns to open the monastery doors and share our space with Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. Master Hua invited Catholic priests to perform the Mass in our Buddha-hall; Spirit Rock East Bay began weekly meetings here in 1995; Hochmat Halev, the Berkeley Jewish Renewal group led by Avram Davis got their start here, meeting on Monday nights in 1997; and I began my first connection with the United Religions Initiative the same year.
I feel privileged to call these luminous individuals my friends.
