In July I had the pleasure of being interviewed at the Free University of Amsterdam about Chan Meditation. Amsterdam has a Buddhist Radio program that regularly interviews guests on aspects of the Dharma. On this day after a talk to religious scholars at the University I met with radio host Jeanette Werkhoven to talk about Chan meditation and the Chan School. The interview begins with 50 seconds of introduction in Dutch language, then a few moments of my "Repentance Hymn" before the interview begins. It's thirty minutes long and contains several brief translations in Dutch after each question. To listen, click on the link that says Beluister in mediaplayer . The radio program is called DE MIDDENWEG - Boeddhistische Omroep Stichting and they have over seventy programs on their iTunes podcast page which you might check out if you want to hear the Dharma in Dutch (mostly).
I enjoyed this interview very much and I particularly liked the comment from Master Hsuan Hua concerning Confucian values and filiality as a starting point for 'waking up', that without these values we are incapable of any progression.
I think a study of the Confucian texts and their commentaries would be an ideal point of entry for anyone wanting to practice Buddha Dharma. As a person wishing to cultivate the Way, this may be the best path for me to follow.
Thanks Venerable for these words.
Very interesting and inspiring.
